The SDS Common Infrastructure (SDSCI or SCI) monitors several important z/OS environments (e.g. JES, SMF, USS, VTAM) whose services may be required for successful execution. The following messages are issued when the SCI detects significant conditions concerning those environments. They also describe the response from the SCI, if any, to those conditions.
Messages that report an “active” condition do not imply that the condition has newly changed from “inactive” to “active.” Such messages only mean that the “active” condition, perhaps longstanding, has been detected by the SCI.
job = the job name containing the SCI that issued the message
SDS0830I Job job detected JES active.
SDS0831I Job job obtained JobID jobid.
The job is executing under the auspices of the z/OS Master Scheduler, not under the auspices of JES. For this reason, it was not assigned a JES JobID when it was started. When the job detected that JES was active, it dynamically acquired the specified jobid.
SDS0832I Job job enabled its SYSOUT.
After detecting that JES was active, the job did everything that it could to enable the writing of messages to the JES SYSOUT files for which it was configured by way of the SCICFG file. This includes the writing of messages that were backlogged, up to the configured limit. Failures that occur after this time, if any, should be attributed to missing, inadequate, or invalid configuration parameters.
SDS0833W Job job detected JES ended.
SDS0834W Job job disabled its SYSOUT.
After detecting that JES ended, the job disabled the writing of messages to the JES SYSOUT files. Messages are now saved to an internal backlog queue, up to the configured limit.
SDS0840I Job job detected SMF active.
SDS0841I Job job launched SMF miner (SMR).
After detecting that SMF was active, the job launched the SMF miner because its services are required by the job.
SDS0842W Job job detected SMF ended.
SDS0843W Job job terminating SMF miner (SMR).
After detecting that SMF has ended, the job sent a termination request to its SMF miner.
SDS0850I Job job detected USS active.
SDS0851I Job job dubbed for USS.
After detecting that USS was active, the job dubbed itself for USS so that it could utilize the services of USS.
SDS0852I Job job launched communication pipe (SCP).
After detecting that USS was active and dubbing itself for USS services, the job launched the communication pipe because its services are required by the job.
SDS0853W Job job dub failed. OMVS SEGMENT NOT DEFINED!
After detecting that USS was active, the job attempted to dub itself for USS so that it could utilize the services of USS. This attempt ended in failure. The most likely cause of the failure is that the required OMVS segment was not defined by the site’s system programmer. This is an installation error. The job will continue executing, but without the services of USS.
SDS0854W Job job detected USS ended.
SDS0855W Job job terminating communication pipe (SCP).
After detecting that USS has ended, the job sent a termination request to its communication pipe.
SDS0860I Job job detected VTAM active.
SDS0861I Job job identified VTAM Proc=procname Version=version.
After detecting that VTAM was active, the job obtained VTAM’s procname and version.
SDS0862W Job job detected VTAM ended.
